    Icons Not Displaying Properly

    To All,

I am running Windows 7 64 Home Premium and I recently installed a program called Glary Utilities.

I created a shortcut and pinned it to the task bar and all was fine.

The next time I rebooted, the icon in the task bar had changed to a blank looking page (a little awkward to describe). I looked at the original file in Windows Explorer and it too had the same appearance.

I was able to change the icon to another program within the Glary Utility suite, but it has baffled me why the original icon for that file is not displaying properly.

When I look at the file's properties it is there.

Any ideas how I might correct this?

    Thank you for your time.

    Hello KC,

You might see if rebuilding the icon cache may help if it is just a glitch.

You might also pin the source file instead of a shortcut to see if that may work better.

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

    Thank you Brink!

I'll keep you posted when I get home and have the opportunity to try it.

Thank you Cassie .... I believe it is the same solution as Brink.

    I'll hopefully try tonight. :)

    Brink and Cassie,

I tried options 1 & 3 in the "Rebuilding the iconc cache" article but both failed.

I believe I did them right, but I am wondering what are my next steps?

    Thank you.

    KC,

Do you currently have it pinned from the EXE file in the Program Files folder, or from the shortcut? If shortcut, delete them and try from the EXE. If the EXE does not have the proper icon like it did before either, then you might try uninstalling and reinstalling the program to see if that may reset it.

    Brink,

I do have it pinned to the taskbar but the EXE remained with a blank page after the attempts.

I guess it is time to uninstall and re-install?

Thank you for your help. :)

Yeah, I would try uninstalling and reinstalling the program to see if that may help.
