File back-up not found on Windows 7 system

    Hello.

I have just reinstalled Windows 7 for the third time and when I attempt to back-up my files get the following message:

'The backup application could not start due to an internal error.

The specified service does not exist as an installed service (0x80070424).'

    Any suggestions please.

    Hello webplodder,

    Welcome to Seven Forums.

If you are using windows backup, Type services in the start menu search and click on services. Make sure windows backup service is not disabled.

Hi Gary, I have found Windows Back-Up and it is set to manual. What do I do now?

Try starting the service - and then clicking on Automatic. Having said that, mine is set to manual by default too.

Manual is the default setting. It should turn itself on when required. I would suggest starting the service and see what happens before setting it to automatic. Make sure Remote Procedure Call is running. Windows Backup service is dependent on RPC. I am sure it is running; just trying to cover all bases.
