Hello all,

I have recently installed windows 7100 x64 on my acer 5920G laptop.

t7300, 8600mgt, 2gigs of ram

antivirus: nod32 v4.

The problem is that after a period of time of using my laptop (movies, browsing,...) it just ends responding. (I'm talking about 10-15minutes of use)

for example:

Im watching an xvid, the xvid freezes, I say '**** not again'. Then I try to exit the mediaplayer and get to my desktop, try to get to the taskmanager but can't. Then it freezes. The hdd light remains on and stays like this. after this I do a forced shutdown but pushing the button for 7sec.

This same problem also occures when I'm on the net with my mozilla firefox browser, I don't know about the other browsers but I'm guessing that they would have the same issue.

All my devices work fine except for the intel turbo memory (pci memory controller) for wich i can't find a driver... there's another thread about it on this forum but the people don't seem the have the same problem I'm experiencing.
(=> http://www.sevenforums.com/drivers/1595-intel-turbo-memory-driver-windows-7-a-3.html)

anyone experienced this? any clues? You need more information? Let me know please :)

thx!

Well I would do a complete virus scan on the machine firstly ,because there was a rumour of bad ISOs being downloaded by some people,so it would be no harm to check it out ,and second thing I would try is to reinstall it, but then again the Official one is on our doorstep so you could just Install that one when it is released

Same thing happens to me - Acer 8920G. This didn't happen in 7077

The only difference is that I've trusted the Windows built in Mobo/System drivers. I'll instal the Acer/Intel ones when I get a chance today to test if this is the problem.

I'll also give it a try.

You 're talking about windows 7 x64 drivers or just vista drivers? (intel & mobo drivers)

On 7077 I was using the same drivers I had for Vista x64. The Same applies for the RC but I decided to trust the ones installed by Windows for the motherboard (One thing I never have done before if there are others available but that's what testing's all about)

For my model they don't officially support the 64 Bit OS (was never released with it) so you'd need to hunt on the Acer FTP site for them - found mine on the 6935/8930 sections.

I doubt it's x64 related since I never had any problems with the Beta and 7077 in x64.

Edit - Forgot to add if you leave the PC for 5-10 minutes it all rejigs itself and comes back (if you've got impatient like I did the first time, all the things you've clicked on come up as well) so it looks like something is taking up all the processor time when this happens.

I've decided on a clean install which I'll try and get done in my lunch break and let you know.

I've decided to install the x86 version. I'll let you know if I keep getting that problem.

I have an acer desktop and it used to freeze on me too. It was a brand new computer and after some time of use, it would freeze. This was on Vista. We may have different problems, but I just wanted to say that I had a similar issue. I don't know how I fixed it, after some time, it stopped. Good luck with installing the x86 version.

I used to have a similar problem on an old build while watching video. If I pushed the video window to the edge of the screen the 'maximize window' thing would kick in and 50% of the time my computer would freeze. Sound would keep playing and the hard drive light would still flicker but other than that it was dead.

Disabling the maximizing thing fixed it, although it doesn't seem to happen anymore, but that's probably because I changed my graphics card from intel915 to atix1950pro.

Not sure if yours is the same problem, but it wouldn't hurt to disable it to test.

Well, been back up and running for about 2 1/2 hours and I'd have got it by now, but haven't so far. All drivers and base programs (Acer utils and Avast AV) are installed. I have a feeling its down to the Intel Motherboard/Turbo Memory and the Intel SATA drivers I hadn't installed. I have a vague recollection of getting this happen when first putting Vista x64 on.

For those with Acer Aspire 59xx/69xx and 89xx laptops, I'd recomend installing the Acer drivers for everything, and not relying on the Windows ones.

I'm on x86. No problems so far...

I think it has to do with that Intel turbo memory driver I couldn't find for the x64 version.
It's available for the x86.

regarding the 32 or 64 bit version of w7, i am running the x86 version of w7 -7100 and am having the same problem (so thats not the problem). Its identical; random freeze and then unfreeze after like 5m or so. I am running in on:acer aspire 5710g.

Was anyone able to fix the problem?

Not sure if this is related to your issue stan? I too am using the 7100 release (fresh install) on my desktop. Upon trying to download Adobe Flash Player I get nothing? it loads but never works.

I've unloaded and reloaded several times but every website I go to, it won't respond. The only thing I could come across so far is Adobe may not have Win 64 bit application yet?

I have the same problem, random freezing and the hdd light remains on.

I'm running on Windows Seven 64bits (7100), on a Asus G1S (no Intel Turbo Memory).

I suspect NOD32 V4 to be the problem, I uninstalled it to see if the problem is solved.

The problem is not solved, it's not caused by NOD32 V4...

If someone has an idea...
