    Same problem here :\
A system restore before KB980408 fixed the rename/move folder issue.

    Another case:

Yup, to fix it and is worth it, Reinstall the OS. Do not install [KB980408].

I found this out the hard way & that little renaming error thing is the biggest annoyance ever or any problem like this. I spent many hours figuring out what the problem was.

It fixed itself within 2 hrs? Do you have automatic updates enabled?

    I found the problem

    1º) Install KB980408 normally

2º) Delete* the following registry entries:

    Code:
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FolderDescriptions\{2112AB0A-C86A-4ffe-A368-0DE96E47012E}]
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FolderDescriptions\{2112AB0A-C86A-4ffe-A368-0DE96E47012E}\PropertyBag]

    THANK YOU HELLGATES!!!

Deleting the Registry entries did the trick for me. I had been looking all over the net for a solution, and this finally worked.

    - Just for future reference: Anyone cares to better explain what is the cause of this problem? (i.e what do these registry entries have to do with it?)

    Thanks!
    Bastian

hiya, yes indeed this DOES work on Win7 32-bit.

I would like to clarify the following (for newbies such as myself).

    a. Always create a restore point PRIOR to making any changes to your registry.

    b. in the instructions below there are TWO options, which are:

    i) delete the registry entries manually

    OR

ii) use the attached .reg file to do it for you automatically.

It was not immediately clear to me that there were two options until I read the post 3-4 times. Someone might run through the instructions too fast (as I did) and miss that fact.

    thanks to Hellgates.
