Drop down menu location A day or two ago, I noticed that the drop down menus (like for any program, File, Edit, whatever) are suddenly all shoved to the far left side of my screen, unless they're about 3 - 4 inches in on my screen. Instead of starting on the left edge of the menu you click on, such as favorites, and having a slight gap between the edge of the menu and the edge of the screen, it shoves it flush to the edge of the screen. See? I dont know what caused this, and its driving me nuts. It wasnt like this a few days ago and I dont know how to move it back. Can any one help? | My System Specs |

That may have to do with the size of some of your entries for which the drop down needs space. As a test shorten the long entries and see what happens. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP, Dell, Gateway, Toshiba - 4 laptops and 2 desktops OS Vista, Windows7, Mint Mate, Zorin, Windows 8 CPU from 1.6GHz Duo to i7 Monitor(s) Displays 2x HP w2207 Keyboard with trackball - no mices Mouse Trackball mice Hard Drives 5x HDD, 7x SSD, 12x Externals Internet Speed DSL 6000 |

No, it doesnt. It does this with EVERY program and I know that it wasnt like this before. I was just using Photoshop last night and it wasnt like this, but now its doing it.
Instead of aligning the left side of the menu to the first letter of the word, its aligning the right side of the menu to the last letter of the word. | My System Specs | | Computer type Laptop System Manufacturer/Model Number HP HDX16 Notebook OS Windows 7 Ultimate Home 64 CPU Intel Core Duo @ 3.06GHz Motherboard Quanta 361B Graphics Card NVDIA GeForce GT 130M Sound Card IDT HD Audio Codec Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 Mouse Wacom Intuos4 Hard Drives 500GB Seagate Antivirus Norton Internet Security Browser IE10 |

Hello ACWN,
It looks like you had your menus set to open on the wrong side (left or right). Menus Open to the Left or Right Side

I know this is marked solved and I said the restore fixed it, but I want to follow up incase any one else has this problem do the same things it did to me.
The system restore did work, but it also messed up my set up - made my wacom tablet stop working no matter how many times I plugged it in and unplugged it. AND the problem came back a few hours later. So, I went and did another system restore, going even further back.
It fixed all the problems, but as of 8:50 pm last night (mountain time) the menu alignment went weird again. So, I did what was suggested and went to alter it in the regedit.
However, there was already a MenuDropAlignment with a value of 1 in the location.
I went in and totally deleted it, logged off, logged back on and the issue is gone. Lets hope it STAYS gone now. | My System Specs | | Computer type Laptop System Manufacturer/Model Number HP HDX16 Notebook OS Windows 7 Ultimate Home 64 CPU Intel Core Duo @ 3.06GHz Motherboard Quanta 361B Graphics Card NVDIA GeForce GT 130M Sound Card IDT HD Audio Codec Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 Mouse Wacom Intuos4 Hard Drives 500GB Seagate Antivirus Norton Internet Security Browser IE10 |

same problem here! Started today. Will try the regedit solution.
edit to add solved issue by following this tutorial as suggested by Brink: Menus Open to the Left or Right Side
like ACWN, there was a MenuDropAlignment value of 1 in regedit. By setting the value to 0, logging off and back on, the menus went back to normal position! | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Professional 64bit CPU Intel i7 Motherboard ASUS® P6T DELUXE V2 Memory 12GB CORSAIR XMS3 TRI-DDR3 1333MHz Graphics Card 1GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX285 PCI EXPRESS Sound Card Sound Blaster® X-Fi™ Titanium PCI Express Monitor(s) Displays Samsung SyncMaster 24" Screen Resolution 1920x1200 Keyboard Logitech WAVE Mouse RAZER Copperhead PSU 800W Quiet Quad Rail Case COOLERMASTER COSMOS 1000 SILVER SILENT CASE Cooling COOLERMASTER V8 EXTREME CPU COOLER Drop down menu location problems?
