How to pin DropBox to taskbar?

When I try to do it, it pins Windows Explorer instead, so I have to right click and select the DropBox folder from the list. It would nice if there was a way to directly go to the folder.

One thing you can do is change the default starting location for Windows Explorer.

    Method #1:

Start > All Programs > Accessories > Right Click "Windows Explorer"
Change the target field from: %SystemRoot%\explorer.exe
    to %SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /n, /e, <New Path>

    i.e. %SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /n, /e, %USERPROFILE%\DropBox
    or %SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /n, /e, C:\Users\username\DropBox

    Method #2:

Shift+Right Click the Taskbar Icon > Properties
Now follow the rest of the process as you would with the above method.

Otherwise, you can create a toolbar and place a shortcut to that folder within the toolbar.

Reinstate Quick Launch and then you can have anything available, even folders, as in XP.
Quick Launch - Enable or Disable
I just have one icon showing with the double arrow icon next to it that shows (vertically) the rest of whatever is in QL when I click on it, so it takes up little taskbar real estate.

This did it, thanks! Now why doesn't Windows allow users to pin folders to the Taskbar by default?

As for the quicklaunch method, I tried it and didn't like it because the icons were not the same size as the non-QL icons.

My icons are the same size and style. Not sure why though.

The only things that can be pinned to the "superbar" are programs. It makes it a bit easier for the user considering how you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between random pinned folders.

If you really want a dock that acts like a OS X style dock (pinnable lists, etc) you can try something like RocketDock. There are many other docks as well. I use the native dock in OS X but I kind of like the two operating systems feeling different.

You may be able to get the quick launch icons to look similar if you tell your main icons to use a small size. Granted, you'll also have to tell the quick launch not to use labels or titles. I find it a bit easier just to use the favorites menu on the side of explorer & pinned folders which can be accessed via a right click.
