Windows 7: Reappearing folder on desktop at startup

hello,

as stated above i have a folder which keeps reappearing every time i start my computer, it's an empty folder and no other program is using it. tried removing it in safe mode and from the registry, but no results.
can someone help me?

What is it called? One of your applications that runs are start up is most likely creating it.

I' wondered if you had this sorted as I am having a similar problem, only mine appears just a few moments after the computer starts.

If not can you give a screen shot, it may be a folder that should be hidden?

It, also may be used by one of your programs.

You can install LockHunter and right click the folder after it appears, you will have a context menu choice of What is locking this file? This will show you what process is keeping the file open.

Or, try this:

Start> All Programs> Right click the Startup folder> Click on Explore

The Startup folder will open. See if there is something there that would explain this. If you see this folder there:

Right click the folder> Click Properties> On General tab, click on Hidden> Apply and OK your way out

I remember this happening with desktop.ini, but it would open a notepad window.

Thanks to AGuy's mention of .ini reminds me to tell you that if the folder does end in .ini, it is probably a hidden folder and is important, it should be hidden not deleted; be sure to post for information if that is the situation.
