Software cant write to or delete files permissions issue

Im hoping someone can shine some light on my odd problem.

Im running 7 32 bit, and the program with the new issue is virtual dj 7
both this laptop and program have worked flawlessly for countless shows over many years,

I did post on the vdj site but a net search only yielded blaming the permission settings so im thinking
between that and its an old version i would post here to,
Basically the program stopped saving things like play history ( automatic saved) or playlists ( manual name list and save ), it started this issue setp 30th

If i try to delete a previous saved playlist i get a pop up saying i need administrative permission to delete
the file, so i assume the program cant write to files but the permissings are all good full control,
I tried a clean install of the software didnt help and if i go to the folder direct it will let me delete a file that way
so the issue is with the program,

I do not use this comp for anything other than the music and like i said its worked fine for years
im guessing other software might do this and minds here might have thoughts on my problem

    many thanks
    cheers

We do see this issue quite often, it is due to outdated programming practice being used by the developer. up to Windows Vista it was default to run the first user as a full admin, so permissions on an applications folder did not matter with the age of the security breaches we are in today The dual token admin was developed this means that you will be asked to confirm the saving or modifying any files in the application folders. The tokenized system requires permission to elevate your username to an admin user each time access is requested to an admin level function or write location

The way around this is the simple one of running the application as an admin, (this can be added to the shortcut used to start the application this way you only need to agree to the UAC prompt once. There Pro way to solve the issue is to go into the application folders where files are being saved and add your username to the list of those who have full access to the folders

Thank you, i took a fresh look at it today after you confirmed what i suspected but didnt
have the expertise to put into words,

However in my case all my permissions were correct it was another program causing this issue
Avast free version, while this comp almost never sees internet my wife reminded me we streamed

    The debates on it,
Avast updated and a "file protector" was casuing this, turn off avast no problem,
Also current versions of virtual dj do not do it even with avast running,

Its a case of the old virtual dj 7 and the newest avast do not get along,

So i just removed the file protector in avast and not worried running my old version of vdj

    again many thanks,
    Cheers
