    Aero Peek in Windows 7

Hello Good People at Windows Seven Forums. Can anyone tell me why when I hover over Aero Peek, it goes between a picture view and a text view at times? I prefer it to be a picture view all the time but occasionally when I hover over the Internet icon in the tray bar, it shows name text of the websites I am viewing and not the picture. Thank you for all your good help! You guys rocks!

In Windows 7, I hover over my Firefox icon in the tray bar and it shows a view of what
web page is there. Sometimes, it shows an image of the page and sometimes it shows
just text of the web page. I think this hover feature is called Aero Peek? but not sure.
I can't figure out why the hover view changes back and forth between image and text
when I don't ask it to change.

When this happens, is the taskbar a solid blueish color?

Hello Rae, and welcome to Seven Forums.

In addition, how many tabs or windows of Firefox do you have open when it only shows the opened window/tab title "Text" instead of a taskbar thumbnail preview of it? If you have to many open to fit all of the thumbnail previews on the screen, then Windows 7 will default to displaying the text instead.

Taskbar List or Thumbnail Previews Mode - Change

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

Since coming to Windows 7, I've had to abandon the VLC media player, as whenever it starts to play a video, it disables Aero and switches to the Basic theme. I've noticed when in Basic, that Aero Peek is text only.

Something must be switching Aero off on you... Do you use VLC?

Sorry, I got busy with other things. Shawn, It doesn't seem to be the overflow default but that was an excellent thought. I had 5 tabs open across the top in Firefox tonite and Aero Peek in task bar shows text only of the last two pages I looked at. However, I closed all but one tab(Windows Seven Forums) across the top and Aero Peek in task bar still shows text only. There have been Thumbnails previews there for several days and now it shows text only. What a mystery?! I will keep watching and trying to figure when it toggles from one to another. Yes, it is a blue task bar to left and center and then fades to gray
over in icon notification area to the far right.

This means, Aero is disabled. Aero is purely related with your VGA.

    Rae,

Double check these items below to make sure that they are true:
    • 1 GHz 32-bit or 64-bit processor
    • 1 GB of system memory
    • A graphics card with support for DirectX 9 graphics with at least 128 MB of memory.
    • The graphics card must support Pixel Shader 2.0 and the Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM).
    • The computer display color depth must be set to 32 bits per pixel.
    • You are using an Aero theme.
    • Desktop composition needs to be enabled (checked) in Visual Effects.
    • The Desktop Window Manager Session Manager and Themes Services need to be set as Started and Automatic.
    • Refresh or update your WEI score. You will need an WEI score minimum of 2.0 in both Graphics & Gaming graphics in order for Aero to be activated.
