    windows xp partition question

has anybody had problems caused by a second hard drive that was partitioned by windows xp? i have a drive that i took out of my old computer because it was somewhat new and it was 500GB. it was partitoned by windows xp pro and when i put it in my new computer with windows 7 ultimate 64bit it would cause blue screens. i transfered everything to a different drive then deleted the partitions and created a new partiton on the drive in 7 and i havent had problems yet.

    has anyone heard of this?

Possible the boot record on the hard drive was different then your new system information. Anyway you did right by reformatting before you installed Win7. Who knows you may have had a hidden virus or trojan.

XP has a slightly different partition table than Win7, so it is good at least format using the installer for OS being installed.
