Make Boot System drive Portable and then back to Normal
I'm moving overseas, and I'm prepping a Netbook computer to take with me as I don't get my desktop computer over there for a few months.
I have an extrernal drive enclosure that my current Desktop system drive will fit into nicely, and it has 1.15TB of free space.
My idea is to
- Shut down my desktop
- Move its boot drive into the enclosure
- Use it as an external storage device for my netbook until my desktop arrives.
Both systems are running Windows 7 Ultimate.
I'm just concerned that when Win7 sees that the external drive is a system disk, it will force me to change disk types in such a way that it won't work as a boot disk when I put it back into my desktop computer.
I don't think I'll have any problems using it for storage on my Netbook. The reason for this is 2 months is a long time, and I don't have a lot of funds available before I go. In fact, I think I've already overspent. ooops.
