Hi all!

For some unknown reason, my 64-bit 7 gives "Item Not Found" dialog whenever I try to move/delete a folder or an archive. All I have to do is to click "Try Again" for the command to go through, but it's driving me insane. What's wrong with my 7? Sample dialog box in an attachment.

What folders are you trying to delete/move? Are you logged in as the administrator. What do you mean when you say move/delete an archive?

What folders are you trying to delete/move?
As far as I can tell, it happens with all folders. Folders with images, documents and music/video files. I'm not trying to move system folders.

Are you logged in as the administrator.
I am.

What do you mean when you say move/delete an archive
I mean the dialog pops up when I try to move the folder to another location (either by drag'n'drop or by cut'n'paste), or when I try to delete it. Same thing with zip archives (but not with rar). Individual images files for example, can be moved or deleted like normal. I'm assuming it's a folder issue and that win7 treats zip files like folders.

Basically, I try to move the folder, dialog pops up stating item not found. If I click "cancel", the folder is not moved. If I click "try again", the folder is moved without any further glitches, except that I need to click "try again" separately for every folder I was moving. Same thing with deletion.

Edit: I also get the dialogue when renaming folders.

Item not found (folder)

ImageBanana - error.jpg

This happens every time I try to copy a folder, when I OK it, it copies or moves it anyway but its pretty annoying especially when moving more then 1 folder...

I've heard from a similar problem where it was solved by un-installing a windows update, something about virtualizing but I checked, it wasnt installed at my machine.
In general I only update the critical marked stuff

Sys:
Win7 prof 64bit
hdd:
1 Sata (d & c)
4x USB ( g, h, i k)

chdisk finds no errors, problem occurs with every hd

im sorry but
For some unknown reason, my 64-bit 7 gives "Item Not Found" dialog whenever I try to move/delete a folder or an archive

or you can go to My Computer from the Start menu>right-click on the drive/folders (probably the C: drive), then click on Properties at the bottom. Click Tools>Check Now under Error-checking.tick automatically fix, and ok

I may be coming in late but WinRAR.zip is another program to unzip files from.
I found mine in C> Program files where I have 7 zip and WinRAR and I can right click to delete it there.
If it is in the registry, which I don't mess with, might be in one of the keys and then look software.
Again, try and wait for an expert to come on.

Have you tried kucing's offered solution? What does your "Yes" mean exactly, what are you saying Yes to?

I had to write 3 chars, this was just a selfquote. I did this as stated.

Mister Moe
I've seen this same error once or twice. I tried all kinds of things then when I rebooted Win 7 magically fixed the problem. I've read some people moved the problem folder over to flash drive then deleted it. I don't have an answer for the problem. Maybe MS will fix it in SP1.
