I am running 64bit Windows7 Ultimate. If I leave my computer running overnight, I will have 98% RAM usage (4GB total) in the morning. I have tried this with various to no programs running overnight with the same results.
I'm running Windows 7 Enterprise 64bit and I have 8GB of RAM installed. My PC has been running for a while and it consumed all 8GB of RAM and started swapping (grinding machine to a halt). It seems Win7 just consumes more and more memory the longer you keep it running. My XP machine I could leave running for months and it never ran out of memory.
I've just rebooted my PC and currently only have IE (2 tabs) and a VNC client session open and it's using 1.4GB of RAM.
Although I have windows 7 using 1 gb ram on my machine, which is windows 7 professional 64 bit with 4 GB ram, on my 512 mb machine with windows 7 ulimate RC 64 bit tested in windows virtual pc, it only uses a little over 200 mb memory. Same when I changed the virtual memory into 1 GB. When I add even more, however, the system memory usage started to increase. If your computer is using over 1 gb ram, and isn't slowing down a tad, don't worry. Windows 7 is just making sure it could use your ram the most effectively, and provide maximum performance
I'm using 34% of 4Gb on windows 7 64Bit. Does Norton 360 use a lot of RAM? couse that's running in the background as well ofcourse.
I run 33% with 4 gigs of ram which is normal. Try this. Start button and type resmon and go to memory and you will see what Windows 7 is doing with your ram.
