Various applications need different .net versions so I have all right up to 3.5 installed.

very true...
"mainstream" programs usually depend on 2 and sometimes 1

Haven't come across anything calling for .net 3.x yet, but I'm sure there are some things that do.
I installed it anyway, just in case.

How is:

.NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1"

" is a full cumulative update"

does that mean i dont need to install 3? jus this? or do i need to install 3, then this?

cuz 3.5 SP1 is only 2.8 MB.

and 3 is 50.3MB.

I take it i need to install 3 first, rite?

3 or newer is needed for Nero 9

Yes install 3 first. " is a full cumulative update"
means it is updating 3 with previous v3 updates not the whole range of .net versions.
I'd forgotten why I installed .net 3 and now you've reminded me...Nero 9. (The worst version of Nero ever produced IMHO).
