Windows 7 RC on Acer Laptop-amazing

I just had to share this with someone (and I doubt my friends would be that interested), but after a fresh install of the RC on my Acer 8930G laptop, everything works brilliantly (which is didn't really for the beta build). The changes are (using the software in the ACER directory on C:, apart from some x64 drivers for hardware from the ACER FTP site):

Fingerprint Reader now works at logon (no big X over it)
Launcher installed okay, and I assume this is why (and this is the killer) the multi-media touchpad now works perfectly (and not just the mute button, sometimes). Volume control works, and the lights actually show the right button too.
Acer Arcade (a pile of rubbish, but you need it for blue ray) installs okay, and some of it works.
Using the x64 drivers for everything really helps, and the SD card reader now reads other cards again.
    Sound drivers install properly.
    Synaptec Touchpad installs properly

    Things which still need tweaking:
Acer Arcade, try playing a DVD or Blueray, and the resolution goes crazy, and only the top left quarter of the screen shows, even after both updates. I haven;t installed any video drivers though, not brave enough yet, as I've heard some bad things about the nVidia Windows 7 drivers (someone please correct me if I'm wrong, and I will try them).
Empowering Technology, even in compatibility mode it still detects it's running on an unknown OS, may try it with the XP mode thingy.
eRecovery still won;t install, but from what I can tell this is because I;ve messed about with the partition table (still have the recovery partition, but the others have been resized, etc).

Basically, I'm just so happy that I can change the Volume and log in with my finger again, it sounds silly, but that was so annoying before.

I just hope that when Windows 7 comes out, that ACER provide a Windows 7 software update pack for laptops that current customers upgrade to Windows 7. I normally hate so-called 'bloatware', but quite a bit of it is needed on my laptop at least to get the hardware running. Still wish that the fingerprint reader had a Firefox extension though (anyone got one that works with Acer laptop using the Validity Sensors Fingerprint Reader not UPEK I'm afraid])!!!

installation went smoothly on my sony vaio fw21e too :)
All drivers installed more or less without a hitch, which i didnt expect.

But i have a question. In vista when i go into computer it shows all my drives like, BD drive, SD Card reader, Magicgate card reader, and hd dvd drive. But in win7 it only displays the bd drive. However if i insert a memory card only then it shows up under Computer. Is this correct?

Could this be because you have windows set to "Hide Empty Drives" in Folder options in Control Panel? Just a guess, it's set to on my default you see.

Yeah, all of them are visable (actually, I think I'd like it your way, it can get a bit annoying when trying to find your USB stick (which I've not names, opps) amongst all the SD XD MMS etc card slots).

Look in windows update in your start menu. sometimes windows puts them in optional updates and you will have to manualy install. hope this helps. welcome to widows 7 and seven forums!

Hmm, I did install the x64 version, and short of adding another partition to C: (to dual boot with vista, as I was initially using the Beta version of Win7) I did nothing dissimilar to you. I would check two things: first redownload the iso, it may just be corrupt. Also, try using a USB drive to boot from, it's just quicker than using DVDs (there is a tutorial somewhere on here on how to format a USB to be bootable for Win 7, and it's really easy to do).
