How to turn off application compatibility engine

I'm trying to install Windows SahrePoint Services 3.0 SP2 on Windows 7 Home Premium following a tutorial found at Bamboo Nation, which requires turning off the application compatibility engine from the local group policy editor. As my version of Windows 7 excludes gpedit.msc how am I supposed to disable the engine manually through the registry?
    Thanks in advance!

Hello Poroff, and welcome to Seven Forums.

I don't know if you still need this, but here are two REG files below that are the same as doing it in Group Policy. After merging the REG file, restart the computer to apply. Be sure to read the description below for what this does to make sure this is what you want.

is this the same as the program compatibility assistant service?

    it's easily disabled with services.msc.

..or maybe it's not the same thing?

    Hello Angelo,

I don't think it's quite the same since that has it's own enable/disable option in Group Policy, but not 100% sure.
