Windows 7 Administrator account is GONE?

    Hello everyone!,

I am having this huge problem with a computer! The guest account is the only one I can access. It has no administrator account! The computer is a dell inspiron one. It has the built in recovery repair on it, but when i try that it has no admin account to type the password in! Please help me with this as I am on a limited time frame, and I am not really familiar with computers. Thanks!

Also, it wont load in safe mode, I have already tried that!

I can't understand that Indian lady from dell and she keeps telling me to contact Microsoft but they try to charge, just to look at it. I'm pretty sure that there is not an admin account on this computer. When I try to run something as administrator, the user account control screen pops up and says "To continue, type administrator password then click OK." But here is the catch, there is not a box to enter the password!!! Could there be a setting that someone could have changed that doesn't allow the guest to type this in? I can pick up on computer knowledge quick if someone could explain this. Thanks again!

Hello bucky and welcome> You will find a lot of help here so lets give it a shot.

1st we will need to know what version of Windows 7 you are running.

    Starter?
    Home Premium?
    Profesional?
    Ultimate?

The first 2 have the admin account very hidden and hard to get to.
Pro and ultimate are a bit easier.
If you cant boot to safe mode thats more things to consider.

We could also use you computers specs.

    Model #
    What CPU?
    How much RAM?
Are you running 32 or 64 bit.

Get those together and we will go from there.

Windows 7 has a built-in administrator account which is created when it is installed and it is disabled by default.Whenever you want to perform tasks under the administrator account with no UAC (user account control) in Windows 7, you need to enable the administrator account. You can go through this grand Administrator account to solve a problem or blocking rights, or simply activate it and keep it in reserve in case. You can enable the hidden administrator account in Windows 7 by any of the following three methods:
    Method 1:Using Command Prompt
Open an elevated Command prompt in Windows 7 by right click on the command prompt and select “Run as Administrator”.After that you only need to enter the simple command below to activate it.
    net user administrator /active:yes
You can also specify your password for this particular account by using the following command
    net user administrator password
where you can replace “password” with your own password. You can see the account immediately after you logoff your Windows 7. In order to deactivate it, you can use the command below
    net user administrator /active:no
This will effectively turn off the administrator account in Windows 7.
    Method 2:Using Local Security Policy
Another way of activating the administrator account in Windows 7 is via Local Security Policy.
    • Type secpol.msc in the search bar and hit enter.
    • After the Local Security Policy pops up, navigate to Local Policies-> Security Options
    • You can see an entry that reads Accounts: Administrator account.
    • Double click the entry to enable it.
    Method 3:Using Computer Management Policy
Another way of activating the administrator account in Windows 7 is via Computer Management Policy.
    • Type compmgmt.msc in the search bar and hit enter.
    • After the Computer Management window pops up, navigate to Local Users and Groups -> Users.
    • In right-side pane double-click on “Administrator” account. It’ll open its Properties.
    • Deselect “Account is disabled” option and Apply it.

When i try to run anything as admin, it will ask me for the password. But there is not anywhere to type the password in, or a continue option.

Does this when i try to run cmd and compmgmt.msc

    The system can't locate secpol.msc.

What i am trying to say is, When i try to run anything as admin, It prompts me for a password, but there isn't anywhere to type it in at.
