That may help offset the bias generated by the topic title.

Windows 7 Ultimate x64, Mint 9

I prefer double click for 2 reasons:

1. It prevents accidentally opening things (like games)
2. I can double click almost as fast as I can single click, so it doesn't bother me
3. It is default on most systems, so I don't need to worry about forgetting.

(Ok so there are 3 )

i agree with bob.

avoid accidentally launch unexpected file
i don't see a big difference with 1 click and 2 click,but i can see difference between 1 and 3

makes me better in clicking faster(especially when im gaming on FPS)

Win 7 Ultimate 32bit

the first and 3rd answers are the same thing.

Which is what I prefer. It's annoying getting on a single click system to try and fix and being used to the double clicking to open and single click to select, on a single click system, to select several items that are separated by other files and folders, you have to hover and wait, it's a pain in the arse, and slows down my troubleshooting repair time. I usually go in and change it back while I am working on the system and figure the user can change it back when they want. Because, again, it's a pain the ass when trying to select numerous files in certain locations where there are no check boxes on a single click system. Check boxes do simplify it a bit, but still, pain the arse. Could be I am thinking more about XP than 7.

I used to be a single clicker, but after so many installations I kept forgetting to change it and now I've reverted back to being a double-clicker.

Just like LB et alii, it avoids inadvertently opening things and I double click pretty quickly anyway.

Been single click for 10 years. I'm use to it. Never have a problem. When I get on a system thats double click it just slows me down.

Launch Systray Apps with a Single Click?
I set folders/icons on my computer to open with a single click. It'd be nice to also be able to open systray apps with a single click. With the way systray icons behave in Windows 7, it feels intuitive to me to be able to launch them with a single-click. For example, I have Digsby and uTorrent...
