Okay, I ran it and it says "windows resource protection did not find any integrity violations."
I'll try the other suggestion and report back.
UPDATE:
Okay, weird. I just looked (before trying the second suggestion) and the Shut Down button has returned???? I'm assuming it had something to do with running the system file checker, even though it said there were no problems!
