Windows Explorer Issue

I was experiencing the same problem. Windows explorer and the desktop would not automatically refresh.

One possible cause is the Windows Services. Open MSConfig and disable "Peer Name Resolution Protocol" and "Peer Networking Identity Manager" which will stop Homegroup and Network from working, but its a worthwhile trade off.

This solution might only have worked on my machine, but its worthwhile to try disabling all services to see if that solves the problem, and from there you can try to pinpoint exactly which service/services are causing the problem.

    Hope this helps!

There is no way i can do that since i am in a work environment and i need the network. Actually, i switched to the 64 bit version, and everything seems better. hopefully when 7 comes out, this issue is resolved.

I'm having the same issue, Explorer shows a blank page and becomes unresponsive.

I'm also using the latest Nvidia drivers. (9600GT)

I'm having this problem as well and have tried multiple 'fixes' through google but none worked. The fixes were simple reg edits that increased the max cache icon amount to 12000 or such but made no difference. Has anyone found a fix also has this happened to any x64 users at all?

Using 9800 GT with drivers fully up to date and haven't done anything to windows aside from letting it update or installing average software.

    Windows 7 Explorer Issue

I suddenly started having a similar issue last night. Explorer will be working fine when I boot up, then if I do something like view images or change the background image, then the next time I select Explorer it will only show favorites, Libraries and Homegroup. Images do not display when set to show icons. I have to double click to get picture view to display the image. Also sometimes, if I select control panel I get a blank dialog box with the words, "Adjust your computer settings" and no options available. Then oddly enough things will go back to normal. Then you lose it again, and you have to reboot the get Explorer back for a while. I tried a restore point, but it did not seem to fix the problem. Will keep looking. I may have to go further back in my restore points to find a time when things were stable.

    System:
    Asus M4N82
AMD Phenom quad core 955 black edition
    crucial 4 Gb memory
Asus nVidia Geforce 9600 GT (Latest drivers)
    nVidia Nforce 780a SLI chipset
    No OC stock speeds
    Windows 7 6.01.7100 32bit
clean install new on new system.

I've started using windows 7 64bit and the problem hasn't shown up since. I wonder if it's something that's only on win 7 32bit?

I switched to Windows 7 64bit a week ago and it seems to have stopped.

I'll not be going back to 32bit, thats for sure.

    Hey all,
I just started having the exact same problem as dschachm and dosser32.

Has there been a solution to this problem yet?

Everything on my system is up to date and I'm running 64bit Windows 7 build 7100. I haven't installed any new programs for a while and it just start happening yesterday.

I would recommend you upgrade from 7100 to a newer version.
I have tested x86 and x64 and have no such problem.. BUT THEN I USE ALL DEFAULT SETTINGS. I do not upgrade any drivers.
You might simply revert back to DEFAULT settings and DEFAULT Drivers an see if you still have the SAME PROBLEMS.
