search file contents getting worse

As a software development expert I'm amazed how microsoft are making simple search more and more complicated, more and more annoying.
In Windows 2000 you pressed F3 typed in a folder to look in, a file name pattern and optionally a word to search in the files. 1 click 3 strings that's it.
In XP few more clicks were required (Search ALL etc.).
In windows 7, how do you search files with a file name pattern and with a string in its contents?

"path:location AND file:filename AND contents" may or may not work depending on the index and the values.

File quality worse in 7MC than WMP/MPC
Short version: When I play files in 7MC, they look less detailed, less sharp, and the colors are more muted, than when I play the exact same file in WMP or MPC-HC. Longer version and backstory: I installed Gabestís Matroska Splitters for x64 and made the registry changes to get .mkv files to...
