Will my Toshiba Labtop run Windows 7?

It will NOT run Vista due to video drivers.

My laptop has ATI Radeon 9000 video, and there is much discussion on the internet regarding Vista drivers, but, according to the manufacturer there will never be an Vista drivers for this chipset.

I would really like to run W7 on this laptop though.

    Any ideas?

as long as the Toshiba meets Windows 7 min. requirements, it'll run just fine. Sorry to say tho, there is no driver for the 9000 series you will get stuck using the standard VGA that windows installs. ATI doesnt support that series anymore :-(

That's exactly what I was afraid of!

This is hands down one of the best laptops I have ever seen.

It picks up even the weakest of wireless signals. I can "see" lots of my neighbor's WAP's that no other laptop that I have ever seen can. I'm not interested in my neighbors WAP's, but, this sure makes it nice in a hotel who's WAP's are not every strong. I've been in hotels and condo's where my laptop was the only one in our group that can pick up the WAP, so it is a real world concern.

It is a nice bright wide screen, clear and perfect in every way. I would not want to change but for to run Windows Vista or Windows 7. And, it is FAR from being out of usefulness. It is 3 years old, but, it's like a 3.5 GHz model, so it was blazing fast when it was new. Still not bad now especially since I just upgraded the RAM to 2 Gig's.

It's very unfortunate that I am stuck with the video that I have that is now unsupported.

I would not be able to cope with standard VGA! I was hoping that I would get lucky with W7, but, I guess MS simply depends upon vendors to supply drivers and apparently to ATI, the 9000 is a dead duck. Thumbs down to ATI on this one.
