Thief: Win 7 of Foxit Phantom?

I have Foxit Phantom v2, which includes a pdf print driver. I use the phantom pdf driver a lot, but like to keep my HP 7110 as default. This seems to be a problem, as the default constantly switches to the Phantom pdf driver.

I suspect that it's a problem with Phantom or a Windows 7 bug, but thought it worth asking: Does Windows 7 switch default printers if it thinks you use one more than the other?

Thanks,
James

I have not noticed that, no. I am assuming that you know how to set the default printer in Devices and Printers?

Yes. That's where I have to keep changing it back to the HP.

Interesting. Does it change it in both word and your reader program?

Yes, and in any other program I print from, i.e., Lotus Approach. Not sure what you mean by reader program, unless you're referring to Foxit Reader, but I no longer have that installed, since Phantom encompasses those duties.

It may be that Phantom is resetting your default program.

That's what I'm thinking, but I suppose it could be Windows 7. Disappointingly, Foxit support (at least in the foxit forums) is generally vague and it's moderators uninformed, almost like they're winging it. If it is Phantom, the likelihood is that I won't get to the bottom of it.

Thanks,
James

I've got Phantom 2 on my Windows 7 machine and the only time it changed the default printer is when I installed it for the first time. Maybe you've got a hung update somewhere?

No update problems that I'm aware of. It's not a serious issue, and I can live with it until a re-install. It just gets annoying when I'm trying to get work done and have to cancel out the Phantom dialog because I think the HP is default.

James
