7077 much faster than the official RC (7100) ?

Have been using 7000, 7077 & now the official RC i.e. 7100 on my tabletpc (HP TC 4400 tablet PC with 2.5 GB RAM Core 2 Duo)

Did a fresh install of 7100 few days back but I am noticing it is slower than 7077. Same limited set of application installed on both i.e. MSO2K7 Lotus Notes 8.5 Firefox 3.0.10 Acrobat gtalk.. thats it. Both updated with all drivers etc. only from windows update no mfr drivers. Same effects etc. enabled in both (only desktop composition & visual style & smooth fonts)

System is much slower and IE as well as windows explorer take time to display anything and also hang at times. Bootup to login screen is much slower than 7077.

WEI scores for hard disk ram cpu etc are all same as earlier.

Is someone else having this problem ?
Any experts who could guide me as to how to go about troubleshooting this ?
Any chance that MS would have enabled more debugging/reporting options in 7100 vs 7077 ?

Thanks in advance.

I had drive imaged the 7077 & am thinking of going back if I don't find a resolution in a day or two.

Windows 7 Ultimate RC1 x64

Don't know anything about that, but on my computer there was no big difference in computers performance between build 7077 and RC ...
And I must also say that I installed 7077 threw Windows upgrade and the RC as a fresh install.

Anyway, IE worked just fine on both 7's.

from the its-the-pedal-on-the-right dept.

PLSQL Guy writes "Tests of the Windows 7 Release Candidate in a PC World Test Center found that while Windows 7 was slightly faster on our WorldBench 6 suite, the differences may be barely noticeable to users. The PCs tested were slightly faster when running Windows 7, but in no case was the overall improvement greater than 5 percent, considered to be a threshold for when an actual performance change is noticeable to the average user. One of the major complaints about Windows Vista was the fact that it was consistently slower than Windows XP. If Windows 7 can't significantly improve that situation, what chance does it have to convince people to move away from Windows XP?"

I found very little difference in 7077 and 7100(yukey mixed hogepog) but did find a difference in 7106. my preference.

Code:

notice the date stamp on setup from 7100 RC
