Vista Ultimate upgrade to RC - missing control panel

I've tried this twice now (on the same machine) and each time Control Panel won't work; it doesn't open. If I change the start menu to show links to Control Panel applets only some of them work; User Accounts, Display, Power Settings, Windows Update and others just do nothing. This means I can't adjust my display properties to get the correct alignment of my dual monitors, among other things, so I've given up on it meantime.

Has anyone else had this problem, or any suggestions on how to overcome it?

    Upgrade?

Ok, did you upgrade as in just standard install or a clean install that reformated your hard drive?
If you just didn't do a clean install, do it. If you just upgrade over vista or xp, it causes a heck load of problems.
If you did do a clean install, then maybe reinstall it if all options run out.

If non of this works, see if there's any more information and i'll see what i can do.
    Good luck

Thanks, Thaken. It was an upgrade that I was trying out. I think a lot of people will want to do this when the final release comes - pity it doesn't work.

Somehow this thread has been marked as solved, when, in fact, it hasn't been: I haven't been able to upgrade from Vista to Window 7, a recognised upgrade path.

I've also tried it on a different PC with the same result: the Control Panel folder can't be opened and various applets, such as Uers Accounts, won't run.

Solved it: it was because I had Directory Opus set as an Explorer replacement. Removing that setting caused the control panel items to work properly.

I sure do not agree with Thaken, I upgraded from Vista 64 to win 7 64 beta without a problem, never seen an upgrade install so smooth.
When I Replace it with 7 RC I had to do a clean install, i never had so many problems with a windows installation EX: no drivers installed for any of my devices, most of my bought programs did not work unless i bought an uprade (they worked with win 7 beta) it was a nightmare, it took me at least 48 hrs to finaly get everything right but after paying cash for upgrades.
