Windows 7 - Can't rename computer

I have Windows 7 Enterprise and I changed the computer name using the usual "right click, my comp..." and so on. I reboot and the name is changed, I checked by returning to the place where I changed it. The problem in the old name is still on the top when I open up the start menu. What's up here?

It normally wouldn't be a problem but my SugarSync account keeps detecting the computer by the old name.

Any ideas?

Hello and welcome....

I guess you should had done that in:

Start Menu=>Control Panel=>System=>(Under the WEI score)=>(On your right) Modify Parameters.

It will open a new Window then click down right Tab=>Modify......

Rename it then reboot and your computer will have his new name.

@glennv The name displayed at the top of my start menu is my user account name not my computers name? Are you confusing one with the other?

My question was meant for the OP, I've edited it and added an @glennv. As you say we need a little clarification.
