my dvd-rom only copy halfway.Help needed!

hello. I just bought a new laptop yesterday. It's an Asus A52J Core i3, ATI HD 5145 1GB, 2Gb DDR3 and Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. The thing is I bought a couple of games to see how well is the graphic. First I tried to install Need For Speed: Undercover. While waiting I fell asleep for like 4 hours. Then when I look back at the installation progress it's only halfway done. But then I thought it might be a faulty dvd. Then I inserted another game that was Divinity 2:Ego Draconis. It requires me to copy the whole imstallation folder, but when tried to copy the folder, still it only copied it halfway then a total pause. There was no warnig or anything. Just pause. I don't know what might gone wrong for I just bought the laptop yesterday. Anyone please help me.

Hi kutiq4life and a very warm welcome to seven forums

Were you online when you tried to install these games?

I could be totally wrong here, as I'm not familiar with the games you mention, but some games require on line registration.
On the other hand you would have thought there would be some notification about this.
    Worth a try though:)

I think it's not about the online registration. I think the main problem is my dvd-rom only read halfway and then it stop completely. I tried copying and installing on the other laptop and it was fine. But on my laptop it just pause. Do you think you know why? I tried disabling anti-virus and windows defender but still didn't do any good.

I'm sorry Kutiq but I can't think why it should pause during the install.
Doesn't sound like a hardware problem.
I presume you gave it plenty of time to resume the installation if it was going to.
I cannot think of anything to suggest but I imagine someone will be along any time with an answer.
I never found anything that someone on this forum didn't know how to fix.
Sorry I can't be of more help, John

Hi kutiq. Are you getting anywhere? I'm surprised nobody else has any suggestions. This post should bump you up the list anyway:)

Kutiq, open up compmgmt.msc (enter that in the run box, winkey+r)

then check Event Viewer > Windows logs > system

    are there any CDROM errors?
