    shift key auto-copying clipboard

my shift key has started acting as a one-touch copy button. whatever was placed on clipboard via copy-n-paste automatically is placed when the shift button is hit. need help. computer is 3 weeks old with windows 7. only way to get it to stop so far is to restart, then it simply waits till you copy-n-paste again then it saves it somehow to the shift key function.

Welcome to Seven Foums bamafanatic. Are you saying if you press the shift key while in a text field, it will paste the contents of your clipboard? I know some programs use shift + insert, or shift + middle click to paste. Do you have any clipboard programs installed? A Guy

    Here too

I'm also having this problem. Anyone have any updates or theories? This seems to be the only forum where the topic is out there.

If it is not third-party software, it might be a broken third-party keyboard driver or broken keyboard in general.

    Solution!

For anyone else who stumbles into this thread on their Google search, someone else came up with a solution.

The issue was actually with the insert key being stuck down, shift-insert being the alternative hot-key for most Window's programs "paste" function. So, all I had to do was fix the insert key.

Hope that eventually helps someone! Thanks for the ideas guys!

Just wanted to say a big thank you for this answer. I searched for an answer in no less than two languages (German, as the original computer was a German one) before I came across this answer.

So, just for all those poor souls searching in Google, some keywords: Windows shift key repeat paste pasting from clipboard stuck insert key.

Hello and welcome (albeit a bit late on my part!) :)Well I'm glad you guy's/girl's figured it out by researching it, you should try that first normally, then post, but its possible that you already had, in which case, your question was about all many users would know to ask, and I apologize for the frustration expressed by logic but it can be hard to diagnose vague questions over the internet (that is where most forum members would request more info) So I hope you return for the Windows Seven Forums, despite your first experience. A member being less than pleasant & helpful is quite a rare occurrence around here.

    Congrats on the fix!

THANKS!!!! I was having the same problem and thought it might be something with the keyboard settings, but I don't know my shortcuts so didn't know where to look. A little jiggle of the insert key and all is well in the world.
