    Start Menu Jumplist Not Working

    Hi Guys,

Wondered why the jump list did not appear when i hover on the arrow icon for items who has jumplists. It worked right after i installed, but not working after i proceed with all the installations of apps.

Not sure which apps cause this thou.

    Anyone has any idea?

*it happened on my Win7 7000 Beta. and 7100 RC

Hello Kevvin, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Does the jump list open when you click on the arrow?

If it does, then double check in Customize Start Menu to make sure that the option below is checked.

    Hope this helps,

Was this a clean install or upgrade?

You might see if running a sfc /scannow command may be able to fix it for you.

If not, then you can see if you have any restore points available to do a System Restore to when you believed it worked properly. If none are available or it did not help, then you can do a Repair install.

    Hello Daz100,

You may need to do a clean install instead, if you did a upgrade, to be able to hopefully fix it.

I've tried to run sfc /scannow and it detects nothing wrong with the intergrity of system files, did not do system restore (due to the fact that the jump list only worked when i first booted into Windows) and subsequently stopped working when i installed softwares.

To add to this.. i had a clean install.

*the same problem occur in the Build 7000 as well.

    Wondered what went wrong...

    The softwares installed:
    Windows Live Messenger
    Windows Live Mail
    Windows Live Writer
    Microsoft Office 2007
    AVG Free 8.5 (now uninstalled)

    Kevvin,

You might double check to make sure that Recent Items and Recent Programs turned on. If they are, then you can try a Repair Install without losing anything.

hmmm after so long, i finally discovered the culprit. I always remove the IsShortcut value in the lnkfile key in HKCR to remove the shortcut arrows, in win7 it disabled the ability to pin programs to the taskbar, and the jumplist of the start menu...

    :)
