Hi ppl, i'd say it does that 3 times out of 10... Lappy starts, if i see the flashing cursor on the upper left corner before Windows logo appears, i know it will work. No cursor = no logo and no boot. Solution? Power off and back on 'til it works. I usually get good results when i hit F9 and choose manually to boot from hard drive even though it's already set this way in bios boot up priority.

It never did that from W7 versions 7022-7048 on my 5400rpm fujitsu drive but it does happen since i installed 7077, and now RC, all clean installs, on my new seagate momentus 7200.3...

Has anyone ever experienced this? Any thoughts are welcome, thanks

btw

I still couldn't find anything since i wrote this topic. Yesterday i installed 7600.16385. Laptop booted up ok at least 10 times while i was installing updates and programs but it started happening again. I didn't give attention to what i was installing at that time because to me it still looks like a random issue. I would email M$ but i'll wait until i buy the retail version and test it. Thanks for your inputs,

Exact same problem. Exact ! I think there is something defective about the hard drive or some compatibility issue with windows 7. did you ever solve the problem ?

Sometimes get a black screen

10/25/12
Over the past three months I have gotten several blank black screen after I enter my password and press enter. I think it is due to one of MS recent updates but I'm not sure. I'd say this has happened at least 5 times in the last 3 months. I shut down my PC at least twice daily. So far I am able to reboot and get Windows 7 to run, but I have had to do a hard shutdown twice and that worries me. Hard shutdown was done by holding down the start button.

Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a fix?
