Opening Files

This is just a ridiculous problem. When I try to open files in on the desktop or windows explorer, nothing happens. The little cursor doesn't do the 'loading' circle thing, or anything. Single click to select works, and right click > open works fine, but the double clicking to open doesn't do anything. I tested the double click folder in the mouse options, and the little folder opens and closes fine as well. I changed the open type in folder opens from double click to single click, and that doesn't work either. I don't know what the hell happened. It was fine one minute, and then....

Any ideas?

I suggest a system restore to get to a point before the troubles began.

Have you installed any kind of theme app or changed your view to something highly customized recently? You could try changing views, and maybe enabling Single Click and then re-enabling Double Click. Check out the attached Folder Options screen to see what I mean.
