Computer won't load pass the screen "checking file system on C:"

    Hi,

So on my computer, every time i start up my computer, it goes to the the starting windows screen, but then it sends me to the "checking file system on C: the type of the file system is NTFS. One of your disks needs to be checked for consistency. you may cancel the disk check, but it is strongly recommended that you continue. " it gives me the option to cancel the disk check by pressing any key, but it won't cancel even though I am pressing keys. so then it continues on to "CHKDSK is verifying files (stage 1 of 3) and every time the computer freezes and shuts down when it reaches about half of my files being processed.
    Any help would be appreciated

    Deegan,

    Welcome to the forums!!

On a different computer, download Gparted, boot with it and attempt to run the disk check available with this software.

Can I ask why you would tell him to run Disk Check when that is what is failing on boot?
