Can Not Log In Now To Load Desktop

I just purchased a new laptop with Windows 7 64-bit.

Everything was going fine until today.

Powered on laptop.
Windows got to my log in screen in the boot process.
Log in screen shows my correct user name.
I enter my password and get an error message that I have an incorrect user name or password.
So now, I am effectively locked out of using my new laptop.

Please, please help.

Try in safe mode
Hit f8 during boot.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I just tried hitting F8 during boot. Nothing different happened. The login screen showed up and still will not take the password.

I am familiar with hitting the trusty F12 in Windows XP during boot to get in the back door, but Windows 7 does not seem to present the same opportunity when it is booting up.

Still locked out.

As soon as boot starts, quickly and rapidly, many times, hit f8. That part will work.

Hello Av8r, and welcome to Seven Forums.

If all else fails, you can use METHOD THREE in the tutorial below to reset your password and gain access again.

Reset User Account Password - Vista Forums

Hope this helps,

The quickly and rapidly advice worked.
I got into safe mode.
I removed the login password requirement from the profile.
Restarted the laptop.
It did not ask for a password this time, but at the same Windows 7 start up screen, I get this message:
"The User Profile Service service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded."
I have an OK button under that message.
When I press that OK button, it just logs out and loops me back to the same screen.
Can't get past that screen.

Hello av8r, welcome to Seven Forums!

Have a look at the tutorial at the link below to see if you can do a system restore to a point before the password issue started; be sure to post back to keep us informed.

If you are able to get to boot, this should work

The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded. - Vista Forums

For Seven and Vista.
