Attempts to use Microsoft Update on WIN7 RC1 end in error saying i'm not an administrator. I'm only person on a private machine and user data shows i'm an administrator. Any ideas???

How do you use "Microsoft Update" on RC1 -- it's not in the menu.

You should just be able to click on the "Action Center" then click Windows update (bottom left in navigation pane) and "Check for Updates".

    Diagram enc.

It's in my start menu and in the control panel and under "Safety"
in IE8 too. And if you enter UP, or update in the start search box.

Well, it's there, just doesn't say Windows Update. It's under Control Panel as "Check For Updates' in your screenshot there. But I have the search Index on, I can punch in UP, or anything after up, and it will come up as Windows Update. And plus, all the others places I mentioned too.\

    Hi there

Can't understand that -- anyway try and do it via the way I suggested and see if that works.

I'm going to install W7 on a brand new computer later today and see what I get with that one.

    Cheers.
