Problem with right click on programs pinned to taskbar.

    Hello.
I hope I'm in the good section for my post.

When I right click on Windows Media Player on the taskbar, the recent files and task lists appears, but don't work : when I click on a file or a task, nothing happen .

However, it worked at the beginning (just after Windows installation), and it still work for other programs.
I tried a system restore, and the problem persist.

    I'm on Seven Beta 1 (Build 7000).

    Could you help me? Thanks.

Try doing a system file check. Info if needed: SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

If you have done any hacks, you will probably lose them, but then that may be the problem.

I followed your advice and tried a System File Check.
It found some errors and repaired them, but the problem persists.

Have you tried to unpin Windows Media Player from the taskbar and then pin it back again?

I can pin and unpin Media Player, but I've still my problem (even after restart).
I've the same "bug" with Live Messenger (2009), which is not pinned to the taskbar...
I don't know what to do...

    Any idea please?

Have you taken a look at Brinks tutorial? It says you have to have Recent Items and Recent Programs on for it to work. You can also do a repair install if things are not working properly, might fix it.

    Thanks.
    I will try...

    Doesn't work.
I was this problem on Build 6956 and the upgrade to Build 7000 didn't fix that.

I already sent feedbacks to Microsoft, but actually I can't use Jump Lists of Media Player and Messenger. Files are here but links don't work ...

    -----

I decided to reinstall cleanly Windows and I recovered Media Player Jump List.

I found why I had this problem : it's an incompatibility between a-Squared Anti-malware and Windows Seven.

My problem is now fixed :)

Any ideas as it is driving me mad. Jump lists work with internet explorer and windows explorer.

I found why Jump List didn't work: because I installed programs which "deactivate" Jump Lists (except Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer).
Did you installed A-Squared or Systran Translator (program, not gadget) on your computer? If yes uninstall it, or restore your system to a date before installation. If no, what program?
