Windows 7 not as popular as I thought...

Not trying to start a heated argument, or lambaste Windows 7, but I was surprised to see that it's usage is still below Vista, and waaaay below XP. It's funny how the media can make you think that "everybody's" switching to 7! lol

Assuming of course, that my source is accurate: NetMarketShare

Praps its because Windows 7 hasn't been out as long as the others (Yet)

Right, Windows7 hasn't been out that long, and will definitely move up the ladder and easily surpass Vista, and eventually XP. But, my simple mind was led to believe by the media that Windows 7 must have surely already taken down Vista, and would soon be the preferred OS over XP.

Looks like it could be a little while longer, yet.

But if only it was OSX.....ahhh... OSX what a great OS, it always works, its easy to use, and its based off a 'nix kernel.

That is because so many offices, company's and bussinesses are still using XP, stuck in the past with an old Op system and old outdated software is the reason why. Not to mention the cost of upgrading all those old systems and software to work with Windows 7 is considerable. These things take time and money so the transition to Windows 7 is slow.

Hmmm... if you look at Steam's survey - Steam Hardware Survey we have....

XP... 32.3% (Note that XP usership is down by 3.8 since last month/survey)
Win 7 (64-bit)... 24.4%,
Vista (32-bit)... 14.5%.

Granted this is ONLY a snapshot of the "gaming" comunity so. And as noted, XP has been around for ages, plus many many people simply don't upgrade like we do. Given this i'm not suprised XP still has a huge footprint.

However.... you can't purchase XP anymore, and new machines are carrying Windows 7, and quite a bit by the way are carrying Windows 7 x64

So to say Windows 7 isn't quite as popular as XP is like saying new cars aren't as popular as old cars.... Well.... who's been around longer

My two cents
