Taskbar Problems

Hello. I'm running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit and there is a problem with the task bar. One of my programs seems to be stuck there. It starts in the notification area of the task bar, as it is programmed to do, but when clicked it doesn't open. This behavior just started to happen. Reinstalling the program doesn't help. I've found a workaround, which is to open the program from a desktop icon and not "minimize to the taskbar," but this change in behaviour bothers me. Any ideas of what to do when the taskbar starts acting up?
Thanks, canadagates

Was it working o.k. before in Win 7 64?

Are you sure you dumped the entire program down to the registry?

Hello Canadagates, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You might see if resetting the notifications icons may be able to help. If not, then you may be able to do a system restore using a restore point dated before this issue started to be able to fix it.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Thanks for your help. This is the first time I've had this problem, certainly never before Windows 7. I will try resetting the notification icons and post what happens. How do you uninstall a program "right down to the registry?" You guys clearly have more experience than I do.
Thanks again, gord

Canadagates,

Usually uninstalling the program using Programs and Features in the Control Panel will do the trick. However, sometimes the program will still leave remnants of itself even after uninstalling. If you suspect this, then you can do a system restore using a restore point dated before you installed the program, if not to long ago, to completely remove all traces of the program.
