Haven't heard of any way to activate, but then I haven't looked too hard. Hopefully the public beta will be out before or shortly after that time comes.

Am now back on 6801 x64, & x86, due to problems with the drivers and other stuff on 6936. I think, (hope ), that the 6936 build is a bit of a retrograde step from 6801, as 6839 does look a lot more stable. It is difficult to assess these things of course due to the nature of the builds we're all using at the moment. Hopefully the the final public Beta build will be based more on 6956 than 6936,. The other problem is of course that the bulds available are not like for like apart from the 6801 which is available in x86 & x64, (both of which are very stable for me ). It will be extreemly interesting when we can compare later builds in both 32 & 64 bit.

Come on Santa you know what's on all our christmas lists

but we'll wait till January if we must

Agreed. I am probably going to go back to 6956 although I still have 6801 installed. Nice to know that I had no hardware probs with the 64bit (except the printer driver), but seems everytime I turn around something else is messed up in 6939.
Video renders faster though. I like that. :)

You know that there are going to a lot of sad faces around here if this public beta is actually 6956 and isn't so 'public'

    Hi Smarty,

I've seen a few mentions of build numbers higher than 6956 so I think there may well be more changes from that build when we get to the Beta, and M$ has officially mentioned the phrase "Public Beta" so should be available to all who want it, it's in their interest to keep the "Buzz" going.

They *should* make it available to anyone who wants to try it. The buzz from that move would do more to overcome the negativity of Vista than any amount of advertising. Make it so it self destructs on a certain date if they want to. Say a bit after the expected release.

Great, now that all of you are also finally running 6936 ... anyone have their Media Center crap out yet? BSOD on closing it and then will not launch without crashing from then on?

Well there is no way to REALLY do that as there are no keys for it, or for 6956 for that matter. Why make keys if they know they are going to keep making new builds? :) I give them props on not wasting time on that.
