I need to know how to make an account have a set time limit. My son has been using the computer for long periods of time, and i wanted to know if I could somehow make it so that his account could be logged on for only 2.5 hours per day. I'm using Window 7 Ultimate. I want to know if you could do this by downloading additional controls. Please help. I need to know really bad.......
That half solves the problem.
Within Windows you are only able to set the TIMES OF DAY when the user can use the computer (i.e. from 4 -8PM). There is no way to include AMOUNT OF TIME (i.e. between 8AM and 6PM, 2 Total Hours of Use).
That's where 3rd party software comes in, and I suggested the best one I could find

This will limit the amount of time to whatever value you choose for each session, however it is possible to extend by restarting.

I have just had a quick look at the program suggested by Kirsch, and although it is not free ($29.95 USD), it would appear to do exactly what you want.
Restrict it between a 2 hour period and problem resolved. That way the child knows when he/she can use the computer. I did this for my daughter, set her to use the computer from 3-5 PM every day. She was able to get in there without a problem. It logged her out automatically at 5 PM. She complained that she wasn't able to save her game, I told her to watch the clock better.That half solves the problem.

Parent the child, don't let them parent you.
