Windows 7: Not to impressed with Win 7 yet

12 May 2009   #21

Personaly I have for the moment just about given up on Win7

I use a large number of low end Video and Photo software which will just not run on 7 even though it runs glitch free on Vista and most of it is cirtified for Vista use

I had high hopes of 7 as it was much quicker and stable than Vista but the amount of programs not running on it there is no way will I go over to it unless the problems are fixed in RC2 or RC3 etc

Paul, Win7 is still in Beta testing.
I suggest that you try which is all over the internet. I prefer over RC-7100.

I have a different opinion (if I may):
I dual-boot
Vista32 and Win7 x86 7000-7100RC, and now Win7 x64 7100RC
What's wrong with using something already bought and paid for, and to have to use if there is an issue with the RC ?
When Win7 goes RTM I may just go with Win7 x64, or I may keep Vista. It's a choice I have at least and since my Vista is oem it would (and may) be as useful as a frisbee.

GTX 680 4gb: Not impressed with performance. Why?
**UPDATE** Its has been suggested that my CPU may be bottlenecking my GPU. If this is true, please make a CPU recommendation. From my research, evidently AMD sucks and I should get a new MOBO and CPU to get the most performance from my new GPU. I recently upgraded to a 680 4gb from a GTX 560...

Not impressed with HD TV
I have been resisting buying an HD TV for my home because when I go to the store and look at the TVs, I see (IMO) very high prices with only a marginal improvement in picture quality over SD TV. The other day our 18 year old 32" SD TV bit the dust so I gave in and purchased a 40" HD TV. I got...

I have built my self a new rig (In spec) I have added 2x Noctua NF-S12B fans to my rad due to the fact when stress testing i was getting temps in the high 90*c's. It has helped it a little. As you can see, currently running at a...

Not all impressed with clearwire
A little over a year ago disgusted with my then current ISP I decide to take over a Clearwire wireless internet account. You can do that for someone so they don't eat the contract. It was a 1.5/256 account. You have to get a new modem, you can't just use an existing account's modem. Whatever, but...

Impressed so far
Hi all, Installed Win 7 last night and am amazed by how simple and trouble free it was. Installed onto my Acer 6920g laptop, install was smooth with no SATA driver issues. Driver installation was minimal as most of them worked fine out of the box, other than me updating the chipset, audio...

I am 'impressed' so far with Windows 7!
Sorry. But I just have to announce this fact, as I was never this impressed with Vista at this stage. ( or on release!! ). With Vista I was more 'hopeful'. lol. No seriously though, I'm throwing all manner of software at Windows 7 at the moment, and yes, there are things that won't install...
