    Game latency higher

I bought a new pc and went from XP 32bit -> Win 7 Home Premium 64bit.

My ping in game Heroes of Newerth increased from 220 to 330ish...

    My specs are

    DualCore Intel Core i5 650, 3333 MHz (25 x 133)
    ATI 5870 1 Gig
    4MB RAM
Realtek ALC892 @ Intel Ibex Peak PCH - High Definition Audio Controller PCI

I've tried every "fix" so far except for a new NIC which i am currently about to install...

    theoa8, welcome to the forums.

Before even attempting to explain that a higher ping could be down to just about anything from a mis-configured NIC to a problem between you and the game server, this,

Wow so this card i bought isn't compatible with windows 7
What card would that be? Of the few bits of hardware you listed, every single one of them is fully Windows 7 compatible.

Hi stormy; sorry I was referring to the network card i bought. TP LINK TG-3468 i specifically asked the guy if it was compatible with windows7 and he said yes... AFAIK it isn't...(as i had read others with the same problem simply swapped their network out from the realtek on board one to fix it)

Bare Foot Kid: Thank you for that, I followed the instructions and my in game latency is still 100ms+ higher then when I was running XP. I am going to install XP 32bit on a separate HDD right now, I'll post the results.

If the NIC wasn't compatible with Windows 7, it wouldn't have drivers available, and you wouldn't be connected to the internet or the game servers, so we can do away with those complaints to being with.

Do you have any software firewalls running? If so, disable them. Are you using the latest drivers for the NIC card?
