    Yes, but still filling out system specs would help us help you better. Also, how old is the computer? If it is a motherboard problem, then Acer could replace it for you.

    Since it is a laptop, then I would contact Acer, and ask them to replace the board for you.

    I checked in the acer website but I did not find any drivers for optical drive?is it a minor prblem or major problem?

    Doc's right we need more information 2 years old I'm guessing you did a upgrade or clean installl of Seven, So once you installed Seven is this when the drive dissapeared? Fabe

    I did not do any hardware upgrade..I installed 7 6 months ago...recently since last week my optical drive sometimes is not displayed in the bios...that is the symptom..
