Help my icons are all the same!?!

    Hi there,

I'm so bad with computers and i have a really annoying problem with my icons.
I got my laptop (sony vaio) new this year with windows 7... everything was fine until i tried to install bluetooth and ALL my icons turned the same!

Basically EVERY icon on my desktop and program list is the same, for example: I have spotify on my desktop it says spotify but the icon is my media center and when i click on it, it doesnt go onto my spotify it goes straight onto my media center. Everything i have on my desktop and program list is my media center! So i can't open ANYTHING! Please please has anyone had the same problem and can help me because i cant do anything

THANK YOU IF YOU CAN.. sophie

Hello Sophie, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You might see if downloading and merging the lnk and exe downloads in the tutorial may help. They will restore all of the default association for these file extensions and hopefully fix your problem after a restart.

Default File Type Associations - Restore

If not, then doing a system restore using a restore point dated before this problem may be able to.

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

Hi there Sophieboo welcome to the forums.

Well it sounds like your Bluetooth has managed to override your default programs.

Take a look at this tutorial: Default File Type Associations - Restore and see if it helps

edit: whoops, I see Brink has beaten me to it
