    Can't Access Files

    Hello guys,

I'm having problems opening my files on my machine installed with Windows 7. It is actually my archives of pictures from previous years.

Evey time I try to open it (right click, then preview) it says this,

"Windows Photo Viewer can't open this picture because you don't have the correct permissions to access the file location"

When I go to properties and click on Advance, the checkbox on "Encrypt contents to secure data" is checked. Click on Details, it shows only 1 uses who can access to this file, which is me before I upgraded my OS to Windows 7 long time ago.

Trying to click on Add, and selecting Administrator, then clicking on OK, it says "to add users to this file, you must have access to the file and Write or Modify permission to it"

So what can I do to get access to my archives of pictures?

Try taking ownership of the folder.

Did you encrypt the files on the previous system? Not on Windows 7?

I think I did encrypt the files on my previous system. So does that means I'm out of luck?

And the taking ownership method did not work.

Do you still have the previous system? Or its files?

Its just the files and its on an external hard drive. The previous system where/when I encrypted the files are no longer available.

Thanks for the replies and it looks like I'm out of luck. Even the guys at the thread mentioned above are without any hope of getting their files back.
