    Windows 7 Search Feature Suggestion

The Windows 7 desktop search feature is excellent! One improvement would be to provide a drop-down list of recent search entries. Sometimes I need to re-enter the same search criteria several times, making minor modifications each time. Having a pull-down list of searches performed during the current session would make that a lot easier!

Hello Jim, welcome to the Seven Forums.

    Hi, Kari.

Left clicks produce nothing. Right click produces drop-down with commands (cut, paste, etc.), all of which are grayed out. What am I doing wrong?

To start, the recent search list only shows 3 last search terms. It is shown when you left click an empty search field.

Kari, left clicks still produce nothing. We are talking about the desktop search that appears when you click on the big button on the left bottom that used to be "Start"--right?

No the search box to the top right of Windows Explorer window. Right or left click that and see the last three searches.

Sorry, my bad. I thought the clip in my earlier post showed clearly enough what I was talking about. As Mitchell mentioned, this works on search box in folder and library windows only.

Thanks again, Kari. Sorry I missed the clip in your post. This is my first post. Guess I'm left with my original sugggestion for Microsoft.

    Hi Kari
This is strange, when I first read this thread I didn't see your snippet either, I'm sure it wasn't showing otherwise I would have referred the OP to it. Can't be me surely cos I don't drink beer!

I have got used to using the search box in Explorer, I find it much quicker as it is so easy to restrict your search to a specific drive or folder. Ten you have the three previous search details.

Strange, indeed, but the image was there to begin.

Anyway, I'm more comfortable with Explorer search. I have been trying to find how to get more than three previous searches to show up, but Google and extensive registry searches have found nothing. Working on it still, though.
