AMD Quad Core problems extracting from encryption, and converting vids

I am not sure what to blame this all on. I recently upgraded my system to an AMD Quad Core 635 Processor. Although, over-all, it does seem faster. It also seems like some tasks have started failing intermittently, which is uncool. In particular, when I go to extract large zip files, etc. Every now and then, it will not work, and will corrupt during extraction. I have to restart it to get it to work. I also noticed today, that simple video conversion, failed..and I have a sort of sneaky suspicion that maybe my quad core is involved. I have nothing to base this on, but could use some advice. I installed a fresh 64bit windows 7 Installation into this system after installing the new processor. This is how it is behaving..

Youo can look in event viewer (type eventvwr in search) go to the windows log>application (and system) tabs.

Look for critical errors (they have red in the left column)

Look for critical errors that mention the problem or say app fail, app hang, mapp crash, etc

If/when you find them let us know what the event ID and source codes are.
