No live peek of minimized window

I hope this hasn't already been said...

I've been wondering why there we get no live window preview (with Aero Peek) when that window is minimized. Sometimes I want to look at something in a window, say for example a progressbar in WinRAR, but the progressbar stops moving once I minimize the window.

Does anyone know why Microsoft did this? I really want my live preview

    Hello Hethoofd,

Are you using a Windows Aero Theme?

If you are, then double check to see if you have the Visual Effects option Animations in the taskbar and Start Menu checked.

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

I think they just leave minimised programs out because they have no window on the desktop with which to create a preview in that particular case.

    Yes, it's all enabled :)

You can try it for yourself. Start WinRAR, for example, and extract or rar a big file (so that you have a while). Now, remember what numbers the WinRAR status window showed and minimize it. Look at the preview from the taskbar and the numbers should still be the same, even after a few minutes.

Yeah, I found this annoying when trying to check a messenger window, utorrent, and file transfers.

It could just be that the programs aren't programmed for seven, and hence can't "push" the data to aero peek. Maybe after official release and newer versions of the programs come out?

That doesn't excuse live messenger though, that should be already set in place.

I noticed Media Player -- the visualizations do not refresh and change in real time when MP is minimized. Only in the unminimized state does it refresh in real time.

Maybe it has something to do with memory usage
