Windows 7: unable to unpin from taskbar

running windows 7 rc. When upgrading a program the exe file was moved. now the old shortcut on my taskbar is wrong and I am unable to unpin it as right clicking does nothing. Does anyone know how I can get rid of it?

Hello Criskeens, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You might see if temporarily copying the exe file to the original location may allow you to right click and unpin the icon.

When you click on the pinned missing item, does anything happen? When I tried to recreate a similar situation it told me the shortcut was no longer valid, and offered to delete it. Have you tried restarting and attempting some of your solutions?

when i click it it says "Problem with shortcut" "This action is only valid for products that are currently installed"

The program is still installed and works fine via a second shortcut

Chriskeens,

Look in the hidden system folder C:\Users\(user-name)\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\TaskBar to see if that icon is listed there. If it is, then you can just delete it to unpin (remove) it from the taskbar.
