Do you need a speedometer to tell you your going faster and smother in the Porsche more than you did the mini?

    .

No, but i'd like to no what the porche does a 1/4 mile in compared to the mini (bad comparision with beta and RC but ok).

or how fast does it do 0 to 60, or i may want to consider gas mileage or comfortability. I just wouldnt fork over the money for not knowing what the porche does if i never owned a porche before. To some it would be worth the money for the look, speed, and prestige. that doesnt make the car NOT a piece of crap. There were good years for porche and bad ones. The late 80's and early 90s were their best, besides their first 10 years of the company. As far as quality goes. Ask any true porche nut about that. Even i get the comments that the new ones arent what they used to be or what they could do. but thats off topic, like i said, kinda bad example.

I start reading this post because I got the same problem than Glen4cindy, but finally all replies only talk about the increased performance on Windows7.
The first day with RC, installation it take less than 30 minutes to finish o my slow and old Notebook Compaq V4000). Booting from DVD only takes 1 minute or less to appear the first screen... but with my "big" PC all after booting is veryyy sloooooooooowww!
It takes about 8 minutes to bring on the first installation screen

I was thinking thats a hardware incompatibility in the first "safe" installation process. First I be tried to put out my vga ATI4870, but only can change with other older with similar ati chip, and still is slooowwww
Now I'm going to try with other hard disk ... but I was thinking the problem is other ...

Glen4cindy, wich motherboard are you using? I have a original Intel with very basic BIOS, without advanced options (shadow mem, vga, int...)

I'm looking for more information, if finally found a solution I'm coming again to xplain (it's my first post ).

    Thanks2all, and sorry 4my english

    I've had the same problem.

With beta, using applications after wake-up (from sleep) happened super fast. I was able to start using Mozilla right after the system woke-up. On the other hand things like my sound wouldn't startup until well after my computer woke-up.

With the RC though, the sound would start-up just as the system woke-up. But it would take a while for me to run applications like Firefox.

With Beta it seemed 7 was starting up applications that I used often much quicker, but that doesn't seem to be true for RC. That's why it seems slow, and I wish they would change it back.

The only thing i dont like about the rc is i find it a weird thing that the computer DEclocks the cpu to a lower state so i have a AMD 3800+ (i know time for an upgrade im working on it need alittle more time. bday right around the corner) and its clocked at 2.0 and when i went to go see what it was clocked at in windows 7 it was like 1.0 to 1.3 i think that was BS making it slower in my part. its still way faster then the BETA and the only problem i have is the stupid dual monitors. -_- my problem is i have a HDTV hooked to my radeon 4850 through HDMI.. and a Regular monitor through DVI. both 22inch monitors at 1680x1050

The 7127 build is awesome so far on my machine. Really like it. Can't go back to Vista after experiencing this.

unless you got like a 5 year old PC it should be running fine, had Windows 7 RC running on a 2.4 Single core, 512Mb RAM and it ran smoothly, had no problems.

    Cannot understand this.

The Beta version was BLAZING fast on one of my PC's. Windows 7 is CRAWLING so slow, I am going to put Vista back on it.

I did a CLEAN install too.

I would not think the RC would be worse than the Beta. This does not give me confidence to buy the final version........

Time to purchase some up-to-date hardware then! No issues here, haven't had a speed related issue in Builds 7068, 7077, 7100 or 7127.

    Windows 7 too sluggish

I've been using the Windows 7 beta for about three weeks. It's a little disappointing. Just like Vista, it has some cosmetic changes, but under the hood it's only running on three cylinders. It's just plain sluggish.

XP runs fast on my equipment and it does everything that I want it to do -quickly. I think that Microsoft just plain does not understand that many of us use our computers to do work. If our operating systems are bloated with crap and run like molasses it takes longer to do our work!!!

I am a network support engineer with hundreds of customers and it is extraordinarily rare for me to see Vista in a business or home environment. Unfortunately, I'm not expecting to see Windows 7 out there in the world much either.

Also, what is the point in moving and renaming common things in the OS so that in each version you have to waste time figuring out where they hid some particular thing? I am unable to figure out how any of the Vista or Windows 7 changes are anything but cosmetic, I'm not seeing anything that makes WORKING in the OS more efficient.

For me, speed and stability are really the only thing that I am looking for now. XP has it, Vista and 7 do not.

If anyone at Microsoft is listening I'm going to give them a hint. It needs to be faster! Faster! Faster!

Beta was fast .. RC was a little slower .. and RTM crawls.
My neighbor is also complaining about this.

It doesn't bother me .. I also have XP

The latest craze in software development is to change the color .. move the tools around and convince the public it's new and they have to pay for it again.
