Windows 7 Unable to go past 1024x768 Screen Resolution

Hi, I have Windows 7 RC Build 7100 x64, and my 15 inch Compaq CRT Monitor can not go past 1024x768 in windows 7, but in windows XP and Windows Vista, im able to go all the way up to 2048x900 57 hz, ive tried upgrading drivers, using a DVI-to-VGA adapter to use the DVI port with my vga monitor, and clearing the checkbox that hides the higher resolutions, but, i still cannot go any higher than 1024x768, which is too low of a screen resolution for me, so, please help, ive also tried using vista drivers from 2008, but still a no-go, so im out of ideas, if theres a way to fix this, or this is unfixable for the time being, ill stick with XP, so please let me know, thanks

I was running 1360x768 on my lcd tv as my display, and when I updated to the newest nvidia drivers through the windows update, I also could not change from 1024x768 resolution. Any other selection would not display anything but a black screen on my tv. I then attempted to change the resolution through the nvidia control panel. I chose 1360x768 in there, and bingo it displayed perfectly. Maybe give that a try?

ive tried that, and still doesn't allow me to change it, i guess its because im running an old CRT monitor, oh well, ill wait and see if anyone else has a solution before I decide to go back to XP Permanently, or at least until i get a LCD monitor.

I'm actually quite surprised that you can get the resolution that are claiming to have obtained with this monitor. The maximum official resolution is as highlighted here.

Yeah, but most CRTs can go pretty high, but at a lower refresh rate, and it gets quite blurry, but nothing major, im so used to running a 17 inch CRT that i used to have before a pin on the VGA cable broke and a 14 / 15 inch Laptop LCD before the laptops died on me, so they left me with just this old 15 incher, so i got used to having major screen space, so i tested this monitor several times and it responds quite well to the higher resolutions, though the refresh rate must be at or near 57 hz for the highest resolutions to keep the monitor from going out of range, So, thats why i want 7 to go higher as well.
